Happy Top Ten Tuesday! Have you ever read a book so good that you need to discuss it with someone else? Need to search for fan art, merchandise, fan fiction only to sadly find you can’t find anything, or that what you find is minuscule? Then this week’s theme is perfect for you because it’s all about Hidden Gems! Here are a few of my favourite books I wish I could fangirl over with more people! Continue reading

Happy Top Ten Tuesday bookworms! Sorry for being kind of absent last week, I got back from holidays and it took me a bit to get back into the swing of things, but I’m back now and queueing up a storm!

This week’s theme is Ten Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump. I chose ten of my personal favourite books that I’ve either re-read, want to re-read, or have stuck with me. Sometimes a book to pull you out of a reading slump is one that you can’t get out of your head, and here are some of mine! Continue reading

Review: House of Many Ways by Diana Wynne Jones

Well, I’ve done it. I’ve finished the Howl’s Moving Castle series and don’t know how I’ll ever recover. House of Many Ways is the perfect end to Howl, Sophie, and the many new characters we get to meet adventures and a good farewell to Ingary. It felt very final, though Jones did talk before her death about more Howl stories she wanted to write. Still, I’m happy it ended with House of Many Ways in true Jones fashion: magic, humour, and sweetness all rolled into one magnificent book. Continue reading

Hooray it’s Top Ten Tuesday! Sorry for missing last week, we had a long weekend for Canada Day and it really messed me up. But I’m back this week and am digging this theme! This week’s theme is Ten Best Books I’ve Read in 2018 (So Far).I’m still new to regularly posting on this blog, so I didn’t know a bi-annual look at what book bloggers are enjoying so far was a thing.

Also fair warning, I’ve only read seventeen books this year (I am WAY behind on my Goodreads goal and it is slowly panicking me) so most of the books I’ve read will be on this list, but what can you do! Continue reading

It’s time for another exciting day of Top Ten Tuesday! This week’s theme is Books That Awaken the Travel Bug In Me. I love traveling, even though I haven’t been to many places (except around my province), probably the furthest I’ve been is Florida and Disney World. But still, I like traveling to other places and just the act of traveling: planes, trains, and automobiles (hehe) I find it all so relaxing to watch the scenery zoom by. Sometimes I wonder if I enjoy the act of traveling better than arriving at a destination. I guess I’ll just have to travel some more to figure it out! Continue reading

Review: Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones

“I never said my wishes were supposed to do any good,” said the genie. “In fact, I swore that they would always do as much harm as possible” (Jones 102-103).

I have gone on and on about my love for Howl’s Moving Castle on here and my bookstagram (my non HMC obsessed followers must be SICK of me, though bookstagram is the place where I’ve found many of my fellow HMC lovers). When I found out that Howl’s Moving Castle was a series, I knew I had to read the rest of the series as quickly as possible, I needed every little Howl thing I could set my eyes on.

That was a year ago. Continue reading

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! I don’t know why but I feel like I’ve been very absent from my blog and my bookstagram, even though I’ve been posting on the latter everyday and the former has been updated pretty steadily. I think it’s because I’ve read a lot in the past few days. I finished my re-read of Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and fell in love with it all over again. I also just finished The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert, review up Thursday! And I just started reading Castle in the Air, the second book in the Howl’s Moving Castle series!

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is bookish worlds I’d want to/never want to live in. I chose five for each category. It’s so easy to read a book and think “wow I wish I lived here” and much harder to find books I wouldn’t want to live in. What about you? Continue reading

Sorry about not posting a Top Ten Tuesday last week, I completely spaced on it! But I’m back this week and ready to make some lists!

This week’s theme is AMAZING because it’s about best character names! I don’t know about you, but sometimes just finding out a character’s name will make me interested in reading the book, or inspire future names for kids! I’ve always loved names and name meanings though, so it makes sense that I’d like character names! Continue reading

Hello bookworms, it’s Top Ten Tuesday and this week’s theme is a freebie HOORAY!

I was originally scared about this week being a freebie because I had no idea what I would choose to make a list of! But then I realized this freebie would be the perfect opportunity for me to plan what I’ll be reading in the next few weeks!

And away we go! Continue reading

Hi bookworms! How are you enjoying Spring? I don’t know about you, but it’s still a bit cold out where I live (but maybe that’s just Canada). Sure, it looks nice and spring-like when you look out the window, but step outside and you can still see your breath clouding the air. Hopefully it will warm up soon!

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is for all of you wanderlust folks, Books That Take Place in Another Country. I’m going to assume this means another country than where the poster (me, or you I guess) lives so all the books I list will be outside of Canada.

Making this list, I realized I really need to diversify my reading habits. What books do you like set in different countries? Continue reading
