For anyone who ever wondered what Stranger Things would be like if it followed a group of girls instead of boys, this graphic novel is it!

Now don’t get me wrong, I love Stranger Things, but the show did make me very aware of the fact that there are very few stories that follow a group of girls in a coming of age story without them hating each other or stabbing each other in the back. So I was so happy when my friends gave me this for Christmas a few years ago because I had wanted to read it for forever!

Paper Girls Vol. One is about four paper girls working in the early morning on Halloween 1988 only to stumble upon the biggest story Stoney Brook has ever seen. While they try to navigate it and keep safe, they must rely on each other and their new friendship to work it all out.

I loved the first volume so much and need to read the rest! The characters are all so interesting and different from each other, and the artwork is so colourful and beautiful! I love the sci-fi aspects of the story and the overall badassery of the characters and mystery of the story. I can’t wait to see what else happens (especially after that ending!).

For anyone wanting to read more groups with girl gangs that has a Stranger Things flare with less Upside Down and more aliens, Paper Girls is for you!
